In 2024, our team at Tacada partnered with Dogs with Wings Assistance Dog Society to sponsor a special puppy in training. This amazing non-profit raises and trains service dogs. These dogs help people live safer, more independent lives. From mobility support to autism assistance, and even providing comfort in hospitals and classrooms, Dogs with Wings changes lives every day. We are proud to support their mission.
Naturally, our sponsored pup had to be named Tacada!
This September, Tacada celebrated her very first birthday with a visit to our corporate office. She happily accepted pets, belly rubs, and a few tasty treats from our staff. With her wagging tail and sweet personality, she had everyone wrapped around her paw in no time.
Learning and Growing
Right now, Tacada works hard on mastering public environments. She practices walking calmly beside shopping carts, riding elevators, climbing stairs, and keeping her cool when distractions are all around. She is also learning how to be gentle with children, earning treats for letting them pet her without sneaking in any “face licks.” These small steps are helping her become the steady and reliable service dog she is training to be.
A Heartwarming Moment
One of the most touching moments from her journey so far happened at a children’s day camp. A little girl who was having a tough day sat on the floor with Tacada, petting her while asking why her tail wagged so much. Tacada’s calm presence brought the girl comfort, showing the kind of impact she will one day make.
Tacada Off Duty
When she is off duty, Tacada’s personality shines even brighter. She wiggles her whole body when asked to sit for photos, and at least once a day she gets the “zoomies,” racing from the deck to the grass so fast she skips the stairs entirely.
Looking Ahead
Watching Tacada grow has been such a joy for our team, and we are excited to see where her journey takes her next. At just one year old, she is already making a difference, and with Dogs with Wings guiding her path, her future is sure to be extraordinary.
